This Blog is dedicated to all the people out there who have discovered the very particular joy of loving and being loved by the “dreaded pit bull.”  May we take that love and use it to heal those who choose in their pain to inflict their miseries upon these amazing animals.

If you would like to add your dog(s) photo and story to this Blog, please contact me and I’ll be happy to share your story with the world.

I found this site recently… thank you! I am the proud guardian of a 9 month old ABPT who is the lazy little fairy princess light of my life! I’ve never known an animal to be so loving, loyal, and chill (especially when I put her in silly clothes or fuss with her cute floppy ears). We live in San Francisco, and even though there is of course some fear of pit bulls in the city we’ve met many more people eager to meet her and tell her how beautiful she is than want to avoid her… we meet toy dog owners at dog parks who are obviously fearful when our ABPT comes up to play… I love the look on their faces when they see that their 5 lb dogs are having the time of their lives running around with a 55-lb pit bull! She’s the first pit bull I’ve owned, and she’s shown me so much love and I’ve been so delighted to learn what beautiful creatures pit bulls are!

Thank you! Your site gives me hope for all the other pit bulls out there waiting for homes (if only my apartment complex would let me take them all home!)… and I feel like I now know more to help these lovely dogs in my area find homes.

Thank you for your kind words, Jennifer. I’m so glad that you are socializing your little princess and showing her (and the world) that pit bulls are just like any other dogs who respond – positively or negatively – as dogs, to whomever is raising them.

As a pit bull guardian you will face discrimination (among other things, your dog will be blamed if there is ever a scuffle, no matter what the actual situation) so arming yourself with knowledge and extra precaution is critical. You sound like a good egg on her way to ambassapit status – let me know if you ever have any questions. This area has amazing resources for bully guardians!

Hi, a link to your blog was posted in a comment to an opinion piece in my local paper today – one which took a stand in favor of blaming dog owners for ill-behaved dogs, instead of singling out dog breeds. Your site is beautiful. My baby girl is a rescue from a Louisiana shelter. She is the sweetest, silliest dog ever. The most interesting thing is how people react to her – I’ve had people say “she looks like she has some… uh…” You can tell they’re thinking Pit but don’t want to say it, like it’s an insult or something. Which is funny, because when I hear that someone bought a dog from a breeder, my opinion of them drops just a bit.
